As of 2:30pm Saturday, all Delta flights in and out are cancelled. I believe that's the charter teams flying in/out use..it was 10 years ago when I worked for them.

Looks like they're not flying until tomorrow morning.

People from the outside just don't understand MN weather.....they don't take it seriously until it's too late.

I would say that is not true. These teams travel constantly, have people line the travel up for them, and so on. Storms happen, I am sure the Giants thought this could happen to them.

You also have to remember, it takes alot for a team to fly. They just can't pack up and take off. This isn't you and I flying halfway across the country on a local flight. It is probably 100 guys, gear, on a charter flight.

I would say people understand Minnesota weather very well. After all, they are from NY. Last I checked they did not have the world's greatest winters there.

At any rate, it is what it is.

Not consistently, but when we get hit, we get hit pretty hard.

Sure they understand it.

They understand MN weather perfectly.

That's why they left early and are safely in their MN motel rooms tonight.

;)

(I think you'd argue about just about anything I said, right?)

Giants fans worrying.

:)

Probably not the best thing for the Giants. It's tough enough to play on the road without this added distraction.

Ralph Vacchiano's (NY Daily News) Twitter:

According to @giantspathanlon, NYG get a 6 a.m. wake-up call, 7:15 bus, 8 departure, 9 arrival ... for noon kickoff. ... Insane.

So true. ...RT @themike0607: In all fairness, if the plane never leaves KC, the whole team's questionable.

Game is still 1PM

http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcnorth/post/_/id/20776/update-kickoff-still-1-p-m-et-at-metrodome

The Giants were diverted to Kansas City and are spending the night there with plans for a 7 a.m. ET wakeup call Sunday. Their charter flight is scheduled to depart at 9 a.m. ET. If all goes well, the Giants would arrive in Minnesota about three hours before game time.

does anyone know how far the minnesota home market extends? fox is only televising the game in the MN and NY home markets. i'm in waterloo iowa. that probably means that i'm not getting the game.

I'm wondering also, being from Ohio and a Sunday Ticket subscriber, if I'll get the game. I should, I pay a lot of $ for it. I'm gonna be pissed if I can't watch the game now.

It might be on local tv only? but fox is showing it so we will see.

I emailed Directv about it already. They have to respond in 24 hours. I may just add the regional sports package for a week, I know I had New York fox when I had it before.

Not good. Attendance will be lower. I feel sorry for those who wasted money on travelling and tickets who can't take off Monday and Tuesday.

Yeah, that would be a total bummer. What I don't understand, is Minnesota getting massive snowstorms this time of year is nothing new, why was New York waiting until so late to fly to Minnesota anyway?

The Giants are idiots for not flying out Friday night when they know they're coming in during Snownami 2010, but the game being rescheduled is officially due to snow on the roof of the dome making it unsafe. They may not have it cleared until Monday morning.

I'm still trying to figure out a plan to get my final video project for my master's done by Thursday even though I have interviews scheduled Monday night, and to be back in Chicago by Tuesday morning for work. Suggestions welcome.

This could POSSIBLY have an effect on the stadium issue, too. Maybe the roof problems change the minds of some Minnesota politicians and deal-makers/breakers about the need for a new stadium? Maybe this is the catalyst that's been needed to finally get things moving? Maybe I'll wake up tomorrow a hundred billion dollars richer, and be the new owner of the Minnesota Vikings?

LOL

I posted on Friday that if the Giants weren't already here, they might not be able to fly into Minneapolis on Saturday. ;)

I understand about the wind precluding clearing of the metrodump, and all, but was just wondering out loud if there is an element of "home-cooking" at play here.

...I'm referring to the fact that Brett gets an extra day and a half, as does Percy.

My understanding is that the reason for moving the game back as given by the NFL is the roof, not the stranding of the Giants' plane.

It's a Brett Favre streak-world, and we are just livin' in it, lol

I'm good with it, mind you--A Vikes win is good for me, but ya gotta at least wonder about such things, if only just a little bit.

I don't.

Wouldn't the severe winds blow the snow off the dome? B)

This was the fifth largest snowfall for a single storm in recorded history. A bit more than usual.

Just saw some live pictures on Fox9 (from OUR tailgate lot - Neumdog is not out there, LOL) and the roof of the Dome has collapsed.

It is designed to do that for just this reason. It collapses to prevent damage to the roof itself.

Bill Lester of the MSFC supposedly told the reporter that there is some damage to two panels, but they haven't been able (the TV types) to get inside to check it out.

Stay tuned. If there is panel damage, I fail to see how the game is played Monday night.

any chance the game gets moved to the gophers stadium on monday or wednesday or something?

I'd say Zero chance it gets moved to TCF Bank stadium. It doesn't have the same number of seats vs. the number of tickets already sold for the Vikings game. They can't just assume that people won't show up, even if that's the reality for a lot of out-of-towners.

Where else could they play the game? I think it would take at least a meek to fix the stadium. in other words there is no way there will be a football game being played at the Metrodome anytime soon.

If the Giants couldn't show up they should have forfeited!
Should have just cleared the snow off the field and played the game in the dome anyway. Would have been reminiscent of the old days of Met stadium.
Sucks having a home game changed to a road game.
