I hope you Vikings fans can help me out! I want to make an afghan for my Dad who is also a Vikings fan. I need help in deciding a good design. I want to make the background purple of course and I was thinking the word Vikings in the old style lettering (see image) in yellow. I think the old style lettering will look better in crochet. I would like to incorporate the horns too but I can't figure out how. Any suggestions? Thanks everyone! http://www.purplepride.org/media/kunena/attachments/legacy/images/061029_Minnesota_Vikings_logo.jpg

What is an afghan?

An afghan is a blanket. In this case, I'm planning on making a smaller one that's is to be used by one person on a couch or chair.

I like the block letters too, but my favorite is the old script:

LOL!!!

Viking Mike, the third one. I like the script too but it won't look good and that small of a blanket, with the small amount of stitches I'm going to use.

It's like pixels so it will prolly be about 150 across and like 250 rows. I use link: http://www.donnascrochetshoppe.com/patterns_football.html but the only Vikings pattern is much too big. If I made that one, it would cover a king size bed. So I need to come up with a less intricate pattern so that it will look good on a smaller blanket.

Btw, I only used the word afghan since when ever I call them blankets my Grandma (from Minnesota and big Vikings fan too) corrects me and makes me call them afghans.

I'm a dad and a grandad that has been a forever Vikings fan.

If it's true, just tell your dad that he did a good job raising you.
It will mean more than anything you can make for him.

Tell him that it meant everything to you, when he was there when you needed him.

Tell him you are aware no parent is perfect, but he was as good as any child could hope for.

And go ahead and make the afghan for him.

I have a feeling you are a special child.

God bless you.

That was either knitted or they used an afghan stitch and I'm not good with either of them. Plus, it's bigger than I'm looking to make this one. It takes a few months for me to make one so I like to make sure I've planned really well before I start.

I made my Dad, brother, and uncle purple hats with horns and yellow braids that they love. I need to get a picture so y'all can see what I mean.

By now I might've given away enough information that I could be identified so if my Uncle or brother reads this, please don't tell my Dad! I'm hoping to make it a surprise for his birthday/Father's Day.
