Rice Breaks 1,000 Yards
By playerpress.com / December 7, 2009

Vikings receiver Sidney Rice, the NFLís breakout player of the year in 2009, cleared the 1,000-yard mark for the season on Sunday Ė in just the 12th game of the year.

With seven catches for 72 yards in a loss to Arizona, Rice now has 63 catches for an NFC-leading 1,036 yards (16.4 yards per catch) on the season with four games left to play. Rice, who has become Brett Favreís favorite target in the Hall of Fame quarterbackís comeback year, had 46 catches for 537 yards in his first two years combined.

Congrats Sidney. I think he is less than 50 yards behind Moss (the NFL leader). Not bad

That's nice to see. I hope we can hang onto him. I have a feeling he'll be putting up 1,000 yards a year for the next 8 or 9 seasons.

At least there is something positive to think about today. Congrats Sidney. Hope to see you in purple for many years.

Good job. 5 years is way too long to go between 1000 yd WR performances.

I think the more surprising thing is that Peterson only has 67 more rushing yards than Rice has receiving yards. And Rice has a better chance of getting the most yards in the NFL than peterson.

What makes it even better was a lot of Vikes fans have seen this coming since he got here. He just oozed potential, and Favre, Chilly, and the O-line have helped him have an elite season so far.

Harvin is going to make 1000 yards too. If not, he is going to be really close.

REC 48
YDS 681
AVG 14.2
TDS 6

Last 5 games
79 yds
101 yds
79 yds
53 yds
84 yds

Avg over 5 games = 79 yards

681 + Avg = 997.8 It will be close. He has to avg 80 per game.

Imagine that!

Who would have thought that?

Congrats to Rice!

And with Percy Harvin commanding more respect from the defense, Rice can only get better. Now if only Berrian will get healed up and 100%, the receiving corps are special.

I really believe that Rice could win the receiving yards title this year.

I could see him winning that but missing the pro bowl. I just have a funny feeling that might happen.
