Vikings fans serenade Favre with chants of MVP' (http://dailyme.com/story/2009112200006904/favre-adds-legend-efficient-3-quarters.html)

MINNEAPOLIS -- An already surreal season became even harder to believe, when Vikings fans began chanting "MVP!" for former longtime nemesis Brett Favre with 10 minutes, 15 seconds left in Sunday's 35-9 victory over Seattle at the Metrodome...

I think that Favre would win the MVP if it was voted on right now.
Not only is he the top ranked QB out there, but what other player has brought some much impact to his team?

Thanks for the read my friend....

Obviously, winning helps with that. It's been everything that I expected it to be, and (Childress) has been a blast to work with."

I know its not a true standard to measure things by, but yet again, another Vet lauds the bald one.
At somepoint you would think that maybe he is a "Players Coach".

I wonder how many agents are being told by thier players......."See what you can do to get me on that roster"?

Sure would blow alot of holes in theories we used to read on here and in the papers......"No Vets will want to go there" if that is in fact what is happening.

a. Odom.
Hurt last year and now this year kindof minimizes his efforts though.
b. PH.
Kid is a flatout baller.
c.
Benson.
Two Bengals.
Damn, someones gonna say something.
Again the injury thing.
d.
Ronnie Brown.
e.
Puke, choke, choke, puke - Sharper.
f.
Chris Johnson.
g.
Adrian Peterson.

Short list though.

Yes I do.

http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?season=2009&seasonType=REG&d-447263-o=2&conference=null&tabSeq=0&statisticCategory=PASSING&d-447263-p=1&d-447263-s=PASSING_PASSER_RATING&d-447263-n=1

BTW, Brees has one more TD (22) than Favre (21), and Manning has the same amount.
But Favre only has 3 INTs to Brees and Manning, who both have 9.
Here is another fun stat: Favre is third in the league behind Rodgers and Romo for most deep balls thrown (40+ yards). :)

Favre has the top qb rating at 112.1.
Brees is second at 105.8, followed by Peyton and Rodgers (102.7 and 102.6).
There are many other categories and "power rankings" out there that will slide these guys all over the place, but in qb rating, Favre has moved quite a bit ahead of the others.

Favre has been playing as close to perfect as a qb can lately, definitely making a case for MVP.
Over the last two weeks I would say Favre's stock is going up and Peyton/Brees has slid a bit.
Manning's last minute heroics against the Pats will stay on people's minds though, even if he has thrown 4 picks in the last two games.

Hurt last year and now this year kindof minimizes his efforts though. I can count on one hand how many defensive players voted MVP ever
b. PH.
Kid is a flatout baller. Not nearly at the level to be league MVP
c.
Benson.
Two Bengals.
Damn, someones gonna say something.
Again the injury thing. Two bengals?
I really don't think Odom would even get a vote
d.
Ronnie Brown. on IR
e.
Puke, choke, choke, puke - Sharper. Possibly, likely candidate for DMVP though, again, being a defender is working against him
f.
Chris Johnson. If the Titans make the playoffs, maybe, otherwise not a chance
g.
Adrian Peterson. possibly, but I see a QB winning htis one

Short list though.

I didn't hear it

That's awesome tho.. I do believe it's still a 3 man race

Favre MIGHT have teh slight edge.. Im not sure how the voters will take the records into consideration if the Saints or Colts run the table

molineviking

As of today Nov. 23, Favre is easily playing as good or better than both Brees, And Payton, Same TD's much less Int's, And The Vikings are playing as good or better than the Saints and Colts, I think Favre could win MVP without a shred of controversy,

Peyton has the edge in yards.. And completion percentage

And wins.. With Addai as his primary back

Austin Collie and Pierre Garcon aren't top notch WRs either

Peyton has a very good shot

To your point V, Yards aren't really as big a deciding factor as completion % or wins, kinda like strikeouts in baseball, I'll take a pitcher who gets groundouts just as much as K's (Halladay)-an out is an out,
Manning is leading Favre in completion percentage by .1, And no one would have confused Sidney Rice with Jerry Rice b4 the season, Harvin, and Rice are just as unheralded as the Colts duo IMO

Now will you get a ticket for this weeks game ;) I need to hear more stories.

Atleast vote him in for pro bowl if not MVP.
I mean seriously who else in the league can be the MVP for 31 of the 32 teams.
He is by far the most valuable player in the NFL (to the opposing team).

Peyton has a big name back just like Favre... Peyton also has Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark... while Shank may be as good as Clark, he has no where near the name recognition and I'm not sure the Vikes have a true #1 the way Peyton does in Wayne.

For me, I'd go with Peyton.
When you play the Colts, you play to shut down Peyton.
To date, they are 10 - 0 with people trying to shut him down and he's doing the work.
When you play the Vikes, you play to shut down AD.

Rice is 3rd in the league in yards

I think he is playing just as well as Wayne

It'll be a sweet race to see who gets their 4th

Would love to see Brett get it and sick it to the pack in the playoffs!

Favre has as many TDs as Peyton and Breese with 1/3 the interceptions.

Interesting... I was told that QB Ratings don't tell the whole story.

Atleast vote him in for pro bowl if not MVP.
I mean seriously who else in the league can be the MVP for 31 of the 32 teams.
He is by far the most valuable player in the NFL (to the opposing team).

I think its pretty safe to say that MVP is going to a QB this year. Its either Manning, Brees and Favre. I wouldnt even be surprised if all 3 of them shared it.

However for ROY, Sanchez is out of the question. I dont know any other rookie except PH that is performing at such a high level.

I would be shocked if all three shared it. I can't imagine that happening.

If it was voted on right now it would not even be close. Favre would win rather easily. Now, everyone is sitting back and waiting for Favre to fall apart (not going to happen folks) ... but right now ... it would not be close.

The knock on Favre has always been the turnovers ... and he just is not turning the ball over now. He has a whole 4 turnovers this season. Brees has 13 and Manning has 9.

And don't count out Brady yet ... the guy has definitely moved back in to the race. He also has 20 TDs and counters with only 8 turnovers.

He only has one bad interception, the other two were tipped passes that got picked off.

Peyton's offensive line is also pretty solid ... probably slightly better than ours, though we have been playing very well as of late, especially the young guns.

I would definitely say Wayne is better all around than Rice, Clark is clearly better than Shank and Berrian/Harvin is a wash with Garcon/Collie. We are better at RB, no doubt, but the more with less argument does not quite hold up here.

Manning has also thrown the ball considerably more than Favre and has THREE TIMES as many interceptions.

Manning is definitely in the mix, but hard to argue against No. 4 right now.

Manning also has the league's leading scoring defense helping him out, Minnesota right now is moving up (#10 currently).
Favre has moved up in the last two week's with near perfect play, the knock is that he is beating poor quality teams.
Still, not sure how much better he could play.

Right now, I would cast my vote for Favre, whereas 2 weeks ago, it was Brees.
Drew gets his chance for quality points against the Patriots next week and I think Manning will be tested at Houston (as long as they don't need Brown to kick a field goal for the win).

First, note the smilies.

2ndly, yes I did say that. What you failed to include was that I also stated time & time again that I would like nothing better than Favre to prove me wrong & would gladly eat crow if he does.

BTW, we are only a few games away from clinching & I will be more than happy to pay NP his $20. Well worth it IMO.

Does winning the MVP award mean a lot if your team doesn't go to the Super Bowl?

Quite frankly, I'd rather have a team that went to the Super Bowl than any one player winning the MVP award & us not making it.

I don't think anybody would rather have one player winning the MVP than the team winning the f'ing Super Bowl.
Come on!

That is not what is being discussed.
Fans feel that Favre deserves MVP mention right now.
Fans also want the purple to win the Super Bowl.
Both would be nice, and in fact if one happens I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the other as well.

The two aren't mutually exclusive.
Quite frankly, I'd rather have both.

In the past 20 years, the team that had the NFL MVP on it went to the super bowl 12 times. Although interestingly enough, the last time a team had the MVP and won the super bowl was when St Louis/Kurt Warner did it in the 1999 season... that streak ends this year. :)

What I really would like, since we are all speculating and wishing about a MVP.....is that AD steps up these last few games carries the team on HIS shoulders and we have 1, 2 finish in MVP on the same team
