Got an email from the Vikings about playoff tickets!

We are very happy to announce that the NFL has instructed us to begin preparation for two potential home playoff games. Although you will be receiving your playoff invoice in the mail shortly, we wanted to let you know that your invoice is also available online right now!

The total amount of your invoice reflects the price of your current seats for the best possible playoff scenario – home games for the Divisional Playoff and NFC Championship. Payments need to be received in our office by Monday, December 14, 2009.

Once again, we are offering the "Pay as We Play" payment option. By selecting this payment option, you are registering your credit card information online to be charged for the Vikings first home playoff game, Game #1. You must register your card online by Monday, December 14, 2009. A $1.00 online fee per transaction will apply. Please note that the credit card used to enroll must have an expiration date of February 2010 or beyond.

The credit card you register will be charged for the full cost of the Game #1 tickets. Should the Vikings host the NFC Championship game, the same credit card will then be charged the full amount for the Game #2 tickets on Monday, January 18, 2010.

You may also opt to make a one-time payment in full online.

EXCLUSIVE ADDITIONAL PLAYOFF TICKET PURCHASE OPPORTUNITY ONLY FOR SEASON TICKET OWNERS

As an added incentive to make your playoff payment early, you will receive a special MVP Bonus Offer along with your invoice in the mail. This Bonus Offer will give you the opportunity to purchase up to four (4) additional upper level playoff tickets for the two (2) potential home games, while supplies last. To take advantage of this special offer, you will need to act fast by mailing in the form included with your playoff tickets invoice!

Vikings.com has the playoff ticket prices and maps out.
Funny, they are only listing the Divisional and championship games.
Looks like the organization is expecting a first round bye... :)

From that map it looks like I will be spending $120 per ticket for the Divisional Playoffs, and $210 per ticket for the NFC Championship game.
Not too outrageous.

I can't remember what I paid last year for the Iggles game but I think that is pretty close to that.
Thanks my friend.

Just logged into My Vikings account, and I see that the payments are due December 14, 2009.

Once again, the two payment options are Pay as We Play and Full Payment.

Wow, I am setting up some group pricing for the playoffs for my company, and I just realized that in the upper deck - Divisional Playoff tickets are CHEAPER that regular season game tickets!
Championship game is not much more expensive.

In the section my company sat for the home opener, we paid $60 per ticket for a regular season game.
Those same seats cost $58 per ticket for a divisional playoff, and $88 per ticket for the NFC Championship.

Go Wilf and the Minnesota Vikings!
Way to be thinking about the fans in a tough economy.
It is classy moves like this that make me SO happy that we have Wilf for an owner, and makes me SO mad that the state can't work with them to get a stadium built!

Ummm.....doubtful.
You paid $60/ticket because those tickets were purchased at the SINGLE-game price.
That same ticket is $50/ticket for season-ticket holders.

The price charts released yesterday were ONLY for season-ticket holders.
I doubt the pricing will be the same for non-season-ticket holders.
We'll have to see.

Mine are $50/game for regular season, $58 for the Divisional round and $88 for the Championship.

Ned -

You need to register your account online (ASAP) with the Vikings.
Not only will you get the emails that NP and I get, but you can also, then, choose to EMAIL your tickets (as a .pdf file), rather than worry about the printed ticket.
You can do this by going to www.vikings.com (http://www.vikings.com), looking on the right side of the page and then clicking on "My Vikings Account".
You'll need your ticket account number as well as the password they probably supplied to you in your original invoice package.

Last year I called right after the Vikes made the playoffs and couldn't believe I got tickets for the playoffs only to find out they didn't sell out until the day before the game and if not for the Eagle fans ( there were at least 8- 10K Eagles fans the game would never have sold out.

I could have bought 2 lower level tickets outside the dome for 1/2 of face value for the playoffs.

This year i'm waiting until game day for tickets and if I can score some lower level for less than face value I will go, if not I'll enjoy the warmth of my house and HDTV.

This year and last year are COMPLETELY different animals.
Let's face it - we were hoping that we would win a playoff game, but nobody really expected it.

I highly doubt you are going to score playoff tickets the day of the game like last year.

Last year you paid for the Wild Card game.
The two pricing levels you are looking at now are for the Divisional and NFC Championship games.
The Wild Card game is cheaper.
My guess is you paid about $35 per ticket for the Wild Card game.
The divisional is only $48, and the NFC Championship is $75.
I don't know for sure, but I am guessing that is pretty much in line with what you would have paid last year.

I am going to do some checking to see what I paid last year for a comparasion.

That's probably about right. Still that is a 300% increase for NFC championship game. Other seats don't appear to be marked up that much.

So it looks like playoff tickets are up slightly from last year.
Here are a couple of prices I found from last year.

"marstc09" wrote:

Just got my invoice in the mail!

They invoiced me for the best possible scenario. The Divisional and NFC Championship. Total of $145 per seat. They are charging $50 for the wild card, $60 for the divisional, and $85 for the championship game for my seats. Section 215, row 8.

Deadline for payment is December 19th at 5pm.

There is a new "pay as we play" option.

"vikeswin2005" wrote:

I just checked out my invoice online no breakdown but $720 for 2 tix so I'm guessing the breakdown is $125 for the wild card, $ 145 for the divisional, and $215 for the championship game for my seats. Section 113, row 30.

I will have the other ticket for sale next to me at the above price or I will have 4 in sec 100 and 2 in 132 also, don't have the invoice on those yet should have tonite or tomorrow!!!

So it looks like lower level have gone up around $15 per ticket, while the upper deck are no more than $3 per ticket.

I wonder what they cost vs some of the other playoff venues (ala Indy, Saints, Dallas, PUKERS, Patriots etc).

The only one I could find that has playoff prices out already is Indy, and they are similar (mayble a little higher priced)

EDIT: Correction, Indy is MUCH higher priced, especially for the conference championship game.

They all might run about the same.

I know that I've been to alot of venues to see games and none are cheaper than the Metrodome (or whatever its called).

Actually, average ticket price at the dome was always in the top five during Red's tenure.
Since Zygi took over it has been doing down steadily, but is still in the top half I believe.

Interesting.
I need to go back and check what I paid at all the sites I've been to.
Off the top of my head.....

I paid triple for the Deadskins seats what I paid for the dome and sat higher up.
Ravens (pre-season) were higher as well.

Not saying your wrong.
I know you know more about it than I, but I bet I can't find $99.00 season tickets at any of those places.

You probably can't.
But the $99 season tickets are obstructed view tickets, and you are looking at only a small portion of the overall ticket packages.
The average ticket price gives a different perspective (but not necessarily the only one).
Plus, you are talking about buying tickets from resellers, not the organizations.
Resellers are able to charge what the market dictates.
Minneapolis is admittedily a smaller market than Washington and Baltimore, and the reseller prices reflect that.
